Short documentary I made about my father
I first got the idea about making this documentary after watching a Philip Bloom video titled "My Dad". Philip Bloom is a hero of mine and I thought it was such a clever idea. They say imitation is the best form of flattery, so excuse me while I flatter away.
From childhood to this day, my father has regaled me with stories of his youth. I thought it was a great idea to record some of these, not just for me but perhaps my future children. I am 35 and I am yet to have any children of my own. I didn't want to take for granted my father always being around. I want my kids, and nephews/niece to hear these stories out of his own mouth. I plan on doing this for my mother in the near future as well.
There was nothing challenging about this project whatsoever. I shot this on two Blackmagic Pocket 4k cameras, set up some lights, and a shotgun mic, and we were off to the races. Dad was the star of this and answered whatever I had to ask. He made this project a breeze.
After we were done shooting, my dad was filled with regret, he forgot to talk about his grandchildren, and he forgot to mention this person or that person. All of that is not true of course. I picked the questioned that he answered, and i'm sorry to say but this documentary is about him and him alone. This is about his life, and everyone else is just a guess star.
Happy Father's Day pops.
