My Top 25 Favorite Video Games of All Time

25: Ratchet & Clank

I can't stop smiling when I play this game.

When you play a Ratchet & Clank game, you can expect great humor, amazing weapons and care free game play. My favorite would have to be the PS4 remake of the original titled "Ratchet & Clank".

24: The Last of Us

This isn't a game, it's an experience

The Last of Us is survival horror at its best. Not only does it give you the thrills of Resident Evil, but it gives you a story comparable to or even better than Uncharted. I did enjoy the sequel more than most people did, but the original takes the win.

23: Spider-Man

The second best Spider-Man game of all time, but I'm nostalgic

I was originally down on this game because it looked like a Batman Arkham Asylum Rip-off... and that is exactly what it is, but hey if it ain't broke don't fix it, right? This game is to Spider-man fans, what Batman is to Batman fans, and I ate it up and loved every moment.

22: mario kart 8 deluxe

This game will make you pull your hair out, but you won't stop playing it

I never played a Mario Kart until I got Mario Kart 8 on the Nintendo Wii U. This game has since been ported to the Nintendo Switch, and has added countless levels to an already perfect racing game. I really did enjoy Team Sonic Racing, and Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, but Mario Kart is superior in every way.

21: Injustice: Gods Among Us

An incredible Mortal Kombat copycat

Ed Boon, the creator of Mortal Kombat is a genius and I owe a good portion of my childhood to him, so when he announced he was making a D.C superhero, fighting game, I was stoked. Injustice: Gods Among Us didn't disappoint as one of the best fighting games I've ever played.

20: God of War

This isn't a game, it's a movie

The original God of War game came out during my passive period of gaming. I just wasn't very active at playing games very much, but this one caught my attention from the beginning and I have played every major entry in the series. The PS4 God of War title is my favorite, although God of War 3 comes really close.

19: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

Best Star Wars game since Jedi Power Battles

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is perfection. The planets you get to visit, the Jedi force abilities, and the storyline all make you feel like you are actually a Jedi!

18: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Best Action Adventure game of all time. Tomb Raider who?

A friend of mine lent me this game, and I didn't think I was going to like it... boy was I wrong, I immediately bought the other 4 entries, and boycotted that horrible film with Tom Holland. I am an Uncharted fan-boy. This is gaming at its highest level.

17: Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage

How about that red cartridge

I played this game about 100 times. It's still a game I can turn on and play from beginning to end. As a Super Nintendo household, we didn't have access to Streets of Rage, so this was our alternative and it's awesome.

16: Legacy of Kain: Defiance

Who doesn't love a Vampire game?

If you like vampires and ancient vampire hunting sects, then this is the game for you. Legacy of Kain: Defiance is the conclusion to the Soul Reaver and Kain video games and it doesn't disappoint. I wait every year for a sequel/reboot/remake of this amazing series.

15: The Simpsons: Arcade game

I still remember playing this at a bowling alley in Brooklyn, with my brother, and our best friend Steven at the time. I just start smiling thinking about it.

There were three arcade beat em ups that every 90's kid had to play: The X-Men, The Ninja Turtles, and the Simpsons. I watched every episode of the Simpsons for its first 10 seasons, so I was big fan. There wasn't a time that I saw this game, that I didn't beg my mom for quarters. I finally got to beat this game at a Mini-Golf course in my adulthood. All I needed was a job to afford doing so.

14: Resident Evil 7: Biohazard

This game reminds me of a more twisted versions of "the Texas Chainsaw Massacre"

Resident Evil 2, 3 and Village are solid games, but this is the one that got me onboard. The pure horror of this game, the atmosphere, the dirtiness, the weapons, I could go on and on. This game is fucked up, and I love it.

13: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time

A better version of the arcade game

My brother and I played this non-stop one summer. A perfect multi-player experience, and those were real rare on consoles back in the day. I love the Ninja Turtles, and I love this game. I dare say that it is even better than the sequel it just got this year called "Shredder's Revenge"

12: Final Fantasy VII

The first RPG game I ever played

My brother got the original Final Fantasy in 1996, and I didn't know what to make of it. I'm not a big RPG guy but this story was perfection, the characters were off the wall and the combat was interesting. I love this game, and I love it's remake just as much. I am so excited for the sequels coming out!

11: Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

Playstation's answer to the Mario Bros

Nintendo had Mario, and Sega had Sonic, so when Playstation came out, they needed a mascot. Crash Bandicoot was the mascot for Playstation, and I'm a little sad that he isn't anymore. The Crash games are some of the best platformers ever!

10: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

The best Nintendo exclusive not named Mario

Crash Bandicoot is great, but it's lacking a multi-player component. Donkey Kong came out with a better multiplayer system than even the Mario Bros from back in the day. I used to love slapping my brothers hand and switching off with him in real time. Donkey Kong Country is one of the best games of all time, but Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze takes it to a higher level.

9: Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes

This game slayed Mortal Kombat at the time, that is not an easy thing to do.

There was an arcade in Puerto Rico called Time Out. I must have spent my entire allowance playing X-Men vs. Street Fighter, and the House of the Dead 2. Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is the predecessor of X-Men vs. Street Fighter, and it's gameplay has never been matched again. There is no one that I know that can beat me in this game. I'm sorry, I know that sounds cocky, but I put in over 600 hours of gameplay in this game.

8: Twisted Metal: Black

One of the most unique games ever

The darkness of this game speaks to my heart. Ever since I was a child I've always been drawn to dark and twisted things. This is probably the darkness game i've ever played, or at the very least it's tied with the Mortal Kombat, God of War Series. There is no game like Twisted Metal. I would pay 200 dollars easy for a new entry to come out.

7: Command & Conquer: Yuri's Revenge

Real time strategy game that has no equal. Sorry Starcraft

I hate P.C gaming, but Command & Conquer games changed that. This game is over 20 years old, and me and my brother still play it online together. We are both so good at it, that we can't seem to be challenged by it anymore.

6: Mortal Kombat Trilogy

This game had every character that had ever appeared in all 4 other entries, plus more!

I originally was going to put Mortal Kombat 9 as my favorite of the bunch but upon further thought, I can't count the hours my brother and I spent on Mortal Kombat Trilogy when it came out.

5: Batman: Arkham City

I've been reading Batman comic books for over 25 years and everything in this video game is comic book book accurate.

I never thought in my lifetime that I would ever play a game like this. Not only is the gameplay and story in this game amazing, but this is closest adaptation to the Batman Comics that we have ever gotten in any medium. Don't get me wrong Batman: The Animated Series came close, but they took everything from that television show, and combined it with the grittiness of the comics, to make the best comic book video game of all time.

4: The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Second best Super NES game

This was one of the few games my father got into when we were kids. When we got a Playstation, it meant that we were never going to be able to get an N64. A Link to the Past was the last Zelda game I would get to play in my youth, and it delivers. Everything from the Dark World, to the Flute Boy, to all the great enemies and monsters, this game definitely holds up. I was very excited to play Breath of the Wild, and it didn't hold a candle to this game.

3: Tetris

No one can beat me at this game. I dare you to challenge me.

I debated putting this game as my number one video game of all time. I think I would bet my life against beating anyone that I know at Tetris. I consistently hit level 22 and above, and alway try different ways to make the game harder for myself. This is the game I am the best at, and I am quite proud of it.

2: Super Mario World

This game defined the 90's

There have been many Mario games, but if I had to choose one, it's gotta be Super Mario World. This game introduced Yoshi, Star World, accessing a power up in screen, and had some of the best secrets. This game also introduced the cape, Mario's best power-up, that has never been included in another Mario game since. (Mario Maker does not count).

1: Cuphead

I have no critiques for this game

Cuphead is the perfect game. It takes the best aspects of some of the greatest games of all time, such as Contras weapons, and Mario's platforming. This game has some of the best art design and music I have ever come across. This game is a throwback, with its ability to include couch co-op, and it's NES difficulty. This game is challenging but fair. The bosses are iconic, and it's replayability is right up there with Mario and Donkey Kong. Cuphead is my favorite game of all time.
